Edwina Carter has spent all of her life involved in music-making – first as a performer and then as a teacher. She has also been an Early Childhood Educator, as well as a Primary School Music Teacher, which has enabled her to utilise her natural affinity with young children. Edwina graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Music majoring in Performance from Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music. She then began teaching at various schools in Sydney – including Moriah College, SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Neutral Bay Primary School, Leichhardt Primary School, and Beauty Point Primary School.

Edwina’s love of music and young children come together in her Kindermusik® classes. Edwina first met Tanya Goodman at the age of 12, when they performed together at Sydney’s Town Hall accompanied by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. They then went on to study at University together. Edwina has been fortunate enough to join Tanya’s established business, Sunshine Music, which already has a fantastic reputation in childhood music education. Edwina also teaches recorder at Bundanoon Primary School & flute at Moss Vale Primary.

Edwina sincerely believes in the value of early childhood music education as a tool to encourage the growth of the whole child through nurturing their emotional, social, physical, language, cognitive and musical development. Edwina and her husband Charles live in Bundanoon with their 2-year-old daughter Poppy and newborn Archie. She is currently enjoying a well-earned break to spend time with her son Archie.
