Lesley has been involved in music from a young age. As well as violin, Lesley also plays a smattering of other instruments including piano, recorder, and trombone and believes it is never too late to take up a new instrument! She has sung in choirs and in musicals through school, university and has also performed both in the orchestra and one stage (at different times) with the Highlands Theatre Group.

With five children of her own, ranging in age from 18 years down to 6 years of age, who are all learning various instruments; she has also gained additional insights into music by being a part of these lessons over many years. Lesley has also enjoyed seeing the many benefits her own son has gained through his participation in both the Imagine That! and Young Child curriculums.

Lesley, with her family, are also members of an historical re-enactment group, the NSW Corps of Marines, and re-enact early Australian history from 1800-1830. The Staats family have become the local musicians of this group and enjoy playing and singing colonial and Irish folk songs. Keep an eye out for future local and TV appearances - (already having appeared on various local news stories and briefly on My Kitchen Rules).

Given her combined passions of doing anything musical, working in education and working with children, Lesley brings a wealth of skills and experience to her role as a Licensed Kindermusik Educator.
